A brilliant first day at the Irish Open Swimming Championships in Dublin for City of Belfast (CoB) swimmer Michael Hewitt who broke the Ulster Junior record for 50m butterfly (LC) in this morning’s heats in a time of 25.17sec qualifying him for the Open final. In the final he took another 0.06 seconds off finishing in 25.11sec, 7th in a very strong senior field including visiting US swimmers. Michael adds today’s record to his Ulster Junior records in 50m and 100m fly Short Course.

Also today CoB’s Florence Tinsley swam a strong 100m breast in the heats to qualify for the Junior final. Well done Florence !

Alex McCrea competed in the 50m fly – she swam well but with no Junior final in this event didn’t make a second swim.
