Excellent performance of CoB swimmers at the SU Development Meet 1 – North. Hosted at the Larne Leisure Centre, the gala saw some of the Club’s swimmers trying to meet their qualifying times, others looking for personal best times, and all of them checking their state of form at this stage of the competitive season.
The outcomes speak for themselves: our swimmers amassed a whooping grand total of 29 medals and 28 PBs, showing the results of a great month of training and preparation!! Highlights of the day were the 1st places by Chloe Young, Ann Sweetnam, and Ruairidh Davis in the 100m BC (11 and 14 years old girls, and 14 years old boys respectively), Amber Holmes in the 100 BS (11 years old girls), Luke Heaver in the 100m and 200m FC (15 years old & over boys), and Sara Paternostro in the 100m IM (10 years old girls). Sara was delighted to meet her qualifying time in the 100m BC (2nd place in her age group), which granted her access to the upcoming Autumn Qualifying Meet in Lisburn at the end of October.
Strong performances from Beth Doherty, Jane Kane, Izem Kazanci, Laura Kennedy, Alex McMahon, Micheal Devlin, and Lucas Price, who all collected medals and showcased both skills and determination.
Very encouraging performances by J3 swimmers Gannon Robertson and Ieuan McLean, who swam their first races at Development Meet making heavy PBs and narrowly missing the podium in the 100m FC (13 years old boys).
A special thank to Development & Age squads Coach Sophia Cross, who was ubiquitous and managed to give feedback to all the CoB swimmers competing in Larne, and the new Head Coach Ben Wiffen, whose reassuring presence in the morning session helped setting a winning mood!
The omen is very good for the Autum Qualifying Meet and we hope the strong performance given in Larne to pave the way to even more successes.
Here are Micheal, Ruairidh, Sara and Lucas proudly showing the fruits of their efforts: Well done everyone!!!!
