The 2019 Swim Ulster Open Long Course Championships have been held at the Bangor Aurora swimming complex over the 26–28 April weekend. Athletes from all over the province travelled to Bangor for an impressive display of the strength and quality of Ulster’s swimming community.

CoB was very well represented by swimmers of the Performance squad, coached and mentored by Richard Gheel, who was also recently appointed Acting Head Coach.

The competition was fierce as the best swimmers from Northern Ireland raced at their personal best standards and beyond in their Age Group categories. However, CoB swimmers were up to the challenge and some remarkable results have been taken home from an intense three-day competition.

Our swimmers go back home with a grand total of 12 medals – 3 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze (of which 3 Gold medals were collected by impressive performances by Evan Coulter, swimming in the 13-14 Age Group), plenty of PBs, qualification times for Summer Nationals, and excellent demonstrations of strength, skills, and potential by younger members of the Performance squad. The Club is proud of its athletes and grateful to Richard for leading this incredible group of swimmers.

Well done Jericho, Evan, Alice, Harry, Jacob, Alex, Livvy, Dara, Emma, Michael and Elsie. Thank you to Swim Ulster for hosting such a well run gala and all our parents who assisted over the week
