COB Aquasprint swimmers competed in the Section C promotion Final in the Aurora Aquatic Centre in Bangor on Friday evening, against Portadown and Ballymena
COB entered the final having placed 2nd best team in the league fixtures earlier in the year. The final event is swum of between 2 swimmers from each club in each event in the 4 age groups. Injury, unavailability and sickness deprived COB of a number of swimmers who had competed successfully in the league fixtures. However, all the COB final team can be very proud of their efforts.
Special mention must go to our Group B swimmers who dominated their individual races. Alexander Hale maintained his impressive form by winning all his events, while the girls trio of Chloe Young, Amber Holmes and Amy Cummings Bell also claimed victory in all their individual events. There was also an impressive Aquasprint debut from young Logan Nutt in the Group A boys races.
Ballymena and Portadown showed greater strength and depth in dominating many of the relay events, and this was reflected in the final score as Ballymena emerged convincing victors with Portadown just pipping COB for second place.
Congratulations to all our young Aquasprint swimmers, who performed superbly during the year.
The Club is enormously grateful to Stephen McKay, who has coordinated the Aquasprint squad and led it through a strong performance across the whole Aquasprint championship. Moreover, many thanks to Stephen and Iain for attending the final and leading the squad over a very warm Friday night in Bangor Aurora.
Many thanks to Neasa Murnaghan for Co-ordinating all the Aquasprint galas this year. Thanks also to all our parent volunteers, without whom these galas could not take place. Thanks also to Michael Augus and the staff at Aurora.
Sincere thanks to Patrick Hann for co-ordinating the Aquasprint Leagues again this year.
Finally, a big thank to Michael Hall and all the staff at “Forest Feast”, for their continued support and sponsorship of the Aquasprint series.
