Well done to all CoB Swimmers who took part in the Swim Ulster Development & Qualifying Meets this month. The Qualifying meet team are picture above.
A number of changes have been made to the Swim Ulster Competition Pathway this season, mostly as a result of Swim Ireland’s new High Performance Director and his vision for Irish Swimming.
With the inclusion of a new ‘Skills Meet’ in the competition pathway, and a higher minimum age for competition, City of Belfast has implemented several changes to our own pathway in order to align with that of Swim Ulster and Swim Ireland.
The past few weekends, firstly with the Swim Ulster Development Gala in Larne, and last weekend with the Swim Ulster Qualifying Meet in Lisburn, have highlighted the success of these changes.
The Development Gala in Larne saw many of our younger swimmers competing at Ulster level for the first time, and everyone swam amazingly well with a huge number of Personal Best Swims across the board, several Swim Ulster Qualifying Meet times, and a grand total of 20 Medals (9 Gold, 2 Silver and 9 Bronze).
The Qualifying Meet in Lisburn saw an equal amount of success with a huge number of PB’s, many of which were well inside the qualifying times for Div 1, and a total of 49 medals (19 Gold, 18 Silver and 12 Bronze).
This is a fantastic result for all of our swimmers, particularly so early in the new season. Well done to all, and thank you to the parents who helped organise and volunteer at both events.
We are very excited to see our youngest competitive swimmers in action in the new Swim Ulster Skills Meet next month!
