On Saturday, 4th Feb, evening COB competed in their third Aquasprint gala of a busy 2017. This week’s opponents were Ballymena SC, and the standard of swimming in this fixture was noticeably higher than in the previous contests.

Ballymena began in ominous form with 3 out of 4 wins in the medley relays. They continued this form into the individual races and soon had a commanding points lead which they never relinquished. COB staged a comeback in the Butterfly and Front crawl events but were unable to recover sufficiently to take the points. Ballymena finished the gala with 252 points against COB’s 166.

COB had some fine individual performances from Amber Holmes and Maisie Bowden and special mention must go to debutant Ben Heatherington who swam a memorable 25m Frontcrawl at the tender age of 6!

To date COB have won 2 and lost 2 of our 4 fixtures this season with 2 away galas to come.

Many thanks to all the helpers on the day, under the expert supervision of Neasa Murnaghan, who ensured another smoothly run, enjoyable gala. Thanks also to Ballymena SC who gave a superb demonstration of Aquasprint swimming and will prove hard to beat in this Division.
